IPRED Post-Earthquake Field Investigation

In addition to sharing knowledge and experience, IPRED has established an ad hoc system to dispatch experts to earthquake stricken countries in order to carry out post-earthquake field investigations. The results of each investigation are made available in technical reports that include analyses of buildings failure and current policy frameworks, and step by step recommendations to improve the policy frameworks that address prevention, retrofitting, and compliance measures.

In each case, UNESCO and each network member involved sign a Letter of Intent in order to facilitate the dispatch of experts to earthquake stricken area, and their activities on the ground.

To date, two IPRED missions have been carried out: the first in Van, Turkey in 2012 and the second was in Bohol, Philippines in 2014.
