Article 6 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) calls on countries to promote and facilitate education and public awareness of climate change. UNESCO is working alongside UNFCCC, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other partners to help Member States comply with Article 6. The UNESCO Climate Change Education Clearinghouse complements UN clearinghouse platforms in support of Article 6 such as CC:iNet and CC:Learn.
The UNESCO Climate Change Education Clearinghouse contains a large number of links to documents and materials from non-profit organizations, research institutions, government agencies and other sources outside the UN system. UNESCO makes every effort to ensure the quality of the materials. UNESCO cannot, however, guarantee the accuracy of all outside information. Nor do the hyperlinks to other websites imply that UNESCO is responsible for or approves of all corresponding information.
The CCE Clearinghouse database has been developed with the support of the Japanese Funds-in-Trust for Education for Sustainable Development.
