Sunderban, India’s unique marine landscape and UNESCO’s World Heritage Site in West Bengal is hosting Go4BioDiv, an International Youth Forum, which will be held parallel to the Conferences of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD-COP), from 6-19 October 2011.
It gives young adults (18-29 years) the opportunity to express their opinions about biodiversity conservation, to exchange with youth from all over the world and to engage with decision-makers and the wider public at CBD-COP. The theme of Go4BioDiv India 2012 is ‘Conserving coastal and marine biodiversity for sustaining life and livelihoods’.
The Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India in collaboration with Wildlife Institute of India and with support from UNESCO, IUCN, GIZ and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) will jointly hold this International Youth Forum. The first part will take place from October 6 to 15, 2012, in the Sundarbans and the second part from October 16 to 19 in Hyderabad during the High-Level Segment of CBD-COP 11 where the participants would present their messages to decision-makers and the wider public via a powerful youth declaration, creative performances involving street theatre and a colorful exhibition and various side-events.
