Keeping the Eye on the Ball!
“Keeping the Eye on the Ball! The Vision of Education Reform in the United States” is the title of an address to be given by Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education.
Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO and David Killion, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the United States of America to UNESCO, invite all interested parties to this forum. Mr Getachew Engida, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO will present the speaker and Mr Qian Tang, UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Education, will moderate the discussion.
In his confirmation hearings, Mr Duncan called education "the most pressing issue facing America," adding that "preparing young people for success in life is not just a moral obligation of society" but also an "economic imperative."
