“Sense and Sustainability” in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve
The exhibition “Sense and Sustainability”, which runs until the 23rd of September 2012 and is part of the programme called “Year of the Cultures for Peace and Freedom", will bring together ten pieces of work by well known contemporary artists from around the world.
After acquiring knowledge of the physical and social environment of Urdaibai (Spain) during visits and through interviews with personalities and inhabitants of the area, the artists are seeking (always through the maximum possible use of local human and material resources) to create and establish a community of practice which encourages dialogue by bringing about an encounter between individuals and the best of their human nature.
The said works have been specially created for the occasion, with great respect for the surroundings in which they are found at different sites within the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai, such as Laga beach (Ibarrangelu), The Madariaga tower (Busturia), the Andrabide quarry (Gautegiz Arteaga) or the Astra factory (Gernika-Lumo).
