Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education

The Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) , which aims to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”, sets the educational targets. SDG 4 also works as a roadmap for Education programs within the 2030 Education Agenda. For its foundational characteristics, through the Incheon Declaration, UNESCO was entrusted with the coordination and direction of the 2030 Education Agenda.

Sustainable Development Goal 4 has 10 targets encompassing many different aspects of education. There are seven targets which are expected outcomes and three targets which are means of achieving these targets. Henceforth, other Sustainable Development Goals include education issues transversely.

SDG 4 is based on Human Rights and has the intent of ensuring the full enjoyment of the right to education as fundamental for achieving a sustainable development.
