The Closing Ceremony of Literacy Teacher Training: Better Life, Better Future through Literacy Program for Factory Workers in Cambodia
The closing ceremony of literacy teacher training for the literacy program for factory workers was organized on December 16, 2016 at Hotel Cambodia, Phnom Penh. The ceremony was presided over by Excellency Im Koch, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) and Madame Anne Lemaistre, UNESCO representative in Cambodia, and also, with the participation from Excellency director general for education, all relevant technical departments of MoEYS, MoWA, MoLVT, Development Partners, representatives of the factories, volunteer literacy teachers.
Madame Anne Lemaistre, UNESCO representative in Cambodia expressed her sincere thanks to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) for the strong leadership of the MoEYS, its technical department for the commitment and coordination to make this program happened. This initiative is response to the call of the Cambodia’s Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Sen at the Launch of National Literacy Campaign 2015 in February, last year. The literacy Program interventions for girls and women garment workers will improve the quality of life for female workers themselves and will also enhance economic production and growth.
