Kuay in Cambodia: a vocabulary with historical comments by Professor Gérard Diffloth

UNESCO has released a new publication, Kuay in Cambodia: A Vocabulary with Historical Comments, written by Professor Gérard Diffloth, a celebrated linguist who specializes in Austro-Asiatic languages.

Published by the Creative Industries Support Programme (CISP), a joint initiative implemented by the United Nations and the Royal Government of Cambodia, and funded by the UN-Spain Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund (MDG-F), this volume offers a description of the characteristics and diversity of the Kuay language as it is still spoken in the northern provinces of the Kingdom, especially in the Preah Vihear Province.

Through this latest publication, the UNESCO Phnom Penh Office wishes to further contribute to the field of minority languages which it has been promoting since 2007 in view to preserve the cultural diversity of Cambodia.
