The Joint Technical Working Group on HIV and Education

@UNESCO - JTWG on HIV/AIDS in Education

This forum, which was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and chaired by the Interdepartmental Committee for HIV/AIDS and Drugs, is a platform to share information on HIV programmes developed in the education sector, on relevant research, on issues through  project implementation as well on lessons learnt and best practices.

It is composed of the HIV/AIDS focal points of the departments of the MoEYS, of representatives from organizations working in the area of HIV preventive education including:

  • UN Agencies: UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF
  • NGOs including World Education, Care, the Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance, the HIV/AIDS Coordinating Committee, the Reproductive Health Association of Cambodia-RHAC, the Cambodian Network of People Living with HIV, or the Cambodian Community of Women living with HIV/AIDS
  • Relevant Government Entities like the National AIDS Authority, the National Authority for Combating Drugs, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.

These members meet on a quarterly basis to discuss about progress and challenges regarding the implementation and coordination of key activities planned in the ICHAD annual workplan, and between the meetings, they share information on activities and new developments related to HIV/AIDS prevention education.
