Institutional Capacity Building in the Sciences

Demonstrating the use of Microscience kits to science students during the UNESCO-ICTP_UNN Science Fair & Mobile Learning Training Workshop at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka

The Science Sector has been active in developing innovative programmes and implementing same with the support of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) of the government. Some institutional capacity building  for agencies of government and professional training for staff have been organised in these areas:

Effective Water Governance, Biosphere Reserve Management and Biodiversity Conservation:

https://connect.unesco.org/new/,DanaInfo=.awxyCyskzkxJz3t+?id=11851843 Man and Biosphere (MAB) and International Hydrographical Programme (IHP) National Committee members, water and environmental experts from various Government Ministries, Departments, Parastatals, Universities, NGO’s and private consultants were trained.

Application of STI Policies for sustainable Development:

https://connect.unesco.org/new/,DanaInfo=.awxyCyskzkxJz3t+?id=118520A total of 65 participants from State Ministries of Science and Technology, Agriculture and Water Resources, Environment, Energy, Power, Science Education, Health, selected higher education and research institutions as well as the civil society benefited from the programme.
