Eligibility for funding

The Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport is designed to assist governments develop or implement effective anti-doping programs in accordance with the International Convention against Doping in Sport.  Accordingly, only States Parties may make applications for funding, in accordance with Article 18 of the Convention.

There are several other conditions or restrictions on the use of the Fund:

  • All requests for assistance should be made by the National Commission for UNESCO or a designated government channel, such as the government ministry in charge of sport. 
  • The Fund will not cover the entire costs of a project.  All applicants have to make some form of financial or non-financial contribution to the project.
  • The maximum amount of assistance for each national project is USD$20,000.
  • The maximum amount of assistance for each sub-regional, inter-regional or regional project is USD$50,000.
