Fifth Session (Paris, 2007)
The fifth session of IGBC was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 19 and 20 July 2007. The session was mainly devoted to examine the progress of the International Bioethics Committee (IBC) on consent and social responsibility and health.
The following Member States of IGBC were represented: Cameroon, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Slovakia, Thailand, Tunisia, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United Republic of Tanzania, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zambia.
The Committee elected its Bureau on the proposals put forward by the electoral groups, and decided by a two-thirds majority to modify its Rules of Procedure [PDF, 41 KB].
In addition, the Committee benefited from a presentation on the report and recommendations of the Expert Committee of the review of Major Programme II and III and the comments of the Director-General.
At the outcome of the session, IGBC approved the recommendations [PDF, 32.8 KB] of the fifth session, which will be part of the final report of the meeting.
