III Regional Ethics Teacher Training Course

From 13 to 16 June 2017 in Port of Spain – Trinidad and Tobago

The UNESCO Regional Bioethics Programme opens the ‘Call for Registration’ for the III Regional Ethics Teacher Training Course. It will take place in the city of Port of Spain, from 13 to 16 June 2017 (4 full days).

Organized by the UNESCO Regional Bioethics Programme (Montevideo Office), the University of West Indies (UWI) and the Bioethics Society of the English-speaking Caribbean (BSEC), the aim of this activity is to train bioethics teachers working at the under-graduate or post-graduate level. The purpose is to enable expert teachers by giving them methodological tools in bioethics education (deliberative method, problematizing methodology, use of cases, problem-based learning, etc.) and to offer them special strategies such as TICs and Art expressions at different levels.

The course will also include introductory items to spread the disciplinary bioethics paradigm and the educational contents, such as the human rights approach, social, public health, and environmental issues among others.

It is a unique opportunity for training and trainers sharing, which will gather highlighted and international bioethicists around key topical issues in bioethics education, from the same Human Rights vision that UNESCO promotes.

We invite the regional and sub-regional education entities, the Universities and other institutions promoting bioethics education in Latin America and the Caribbean to give to their teachers the opportunity to participate, as well as to every independent teacher interested in this topic to directly apply for this Course.

UNESCO will cover the registration fees and material expenses for a maximum of 30 selected participants.

Travel expenses, accommodation and meals (Breakfast and dinner) will have to be covered by the participants or by their academic institution.

UWI and BSEC will cover the meals during the event and the meeting place for the Course for the four days.

The applicants will be selected by an international committee, which will be established for this purpose.

The course will be in English only.

Class load: 36 hours
