From October 2008 till 10 December 2009, the European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (ETC) in Graz, Austria, organizes its regular human rights information and education programme around the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Lectures, seminars, workshops, panel discussions and expert meetings will be devoted to the examination of the content of the rights enshrined in each article of the Universal Declaration and of the achievements in and challenges to their implementation.
To attract public attention and to ensure the sustainability of the teaching programme, it will be accompanied by a media campaign throughout 2009 which has been proclaimed as the International Year for Human Rights Learning.
Various events and the media campaign will take place at the local level - at the ETC in Graz, which is the first Human Rights City in Europe, as well as online.
- thematic events (lectures, seminars, workshops, panel discussions, expert meetings, etc.)
- small but informative sub-pages of the ETC website which accompany the events, made accessible to the young public by pixel codes on all posters and flyers
- distribution of free cards under the heading "MY RIGHTS" based on contributions collected in anti-discrimination workshops and debate trainings in Graz and the respective articles of the UDHR during events and online
- distribution of ‘Dignity and justice for all of us’ information material.
