The regional conference on “Media, Education and Culture in Human Rights” took place in Cartagena (Colombia), from 9 to 11 September 2008. Organized by the Colombian Government, with UNESCO’s support, it was held in the framework of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Conference explored the link between media and education, and their contribution to an increasingly robust dialogue for the construction of a culture of human rights in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean.
It sought to reaffirm the Universal Declaration as a commitment to dignity and justice for all, one which applies to everyone, everywhere.
Several cultural side events were organized during this three-day Conference. Debates were broadcasted live on the Conference's website.
