The UNESCO MOST Programme, the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) of the Dominican Republic, the Centro Latinoamericano de Economía Humana (CLAEH) and the Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) organized the third session of the MOST Summer University entitled “Links between Social Sciences and Policy; Social Development Policies during the crisis”. It took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from 7 to 11 December 2009.

This summer university was aimed at young researchers, university lecturers, Master and Doctoral students, as well as heads of public programmes and public policies for social development. Participants were from Latin America and the Caribbean.

The third session offered a space for theoretical and methodological reflection on the links between social science research and public policies, focusing on the making, implementation and evaluation of policies regarding social development in the regional context. The work focused on experiences of policies based on knowledge and theoretical and methodological approaches and models set up around the links between research, policy and development.

The University was also an opportunity for academic encounters with renowned researchers, lecturers and heads of institutional, scientific, social and political programmes.
