2nd World Humanities Forum - Call for Papers
UNESCO is convening the 2nd World Humanities Forum under the overarching theme of “Humanities and Healing” in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Korea, and Busan Metropolitan City, from 1 to 3 November 2012. Deadline for submission of abstracts: 22 August 2012.
In the spirit of the 2011 Busan Declaration, which was adopted at the 1st World Humanities Forum reaffirming the important role of the humanities in addressing current and emerging challenges the humanity faces, the 2nd World Humanities Forum will reflect on the role of the humanities in understanding the nature of suffering human beings are experiencing today and in finding the modes of healing that might respond to them. Furthermore, the Forum will discuss how the humanities need to be organized, institutionally and intellectually, in order to play their role in the 21st century.
Experts are invited to submit papers on the following topics: 1) Considerations on the Intellectual and Institutional Role of the Humanities, 2) Theoretical Discussions on the Therapeutic Role of the Humanities, 3) Reflection on the Historical Role of the Humanities in Healing, and 4) Practices of the Healing Humanities. Authors interested in providing a paper may consult the related documents below.
Abstracts are to be submitted no later than 22 August 2012. They must be written in either English or Korean.

Abstracts must not exceed 500 words (excluding bibliography) and should include three to five keywords that reflect the content. Once submitted, changes cannot be made to the abstracts. Authors of papers that are accepted for presentation at the Forum will be notified by 31 August 2012.
