11 New Anti-Doping Projects Approved
The Approval Committee for the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport met at UNESCO Headquarters on 7 February to consider a number of high quality applications for funding.
Eleven new projects, worth in excess of US$226,000, were approved, including preventative education programs and awareness-raising campaigns on the fight against doping. Among these projects is the first Regional Project, submitted by the members of the Indian Ocean Regional Anti-Doping Organization, for the development of an athlete outreach programme in the context of the 8th edition of the Indian Ocean Island Games which will be held in the Seychelles in August 2011.
Since the establishment of the Fund by UNESCO in 2008, 47 projects worth US$750,000 have received financial assistance. These projects span all regions of the world:

- Asia and Pacific (5)
- Europe and North America (7)
- Latin America and the Caribbean (16).
