Deadline for registering to the Social Technology Award is 21 June

It ends this Friday, 21 June, the period to register for the 7th editon of the Social Technology Award of the Brazil Bank Foundation (BB Foundation). The award is organized every two years, aiming at identifying implemented initiatives within local, regional and national levels developed to interact with community and to help improve people’s lives. This year, the award is a total of R$ 800 thousand for projects that contemplate the areas of food, education, energy, habitat, environment, water resources, income, and health.

Non-commercial institutions, of public or private law that promote and stimulate these practices can register for the award. The initiatives will be awarded in five different categories: Traditional Communities; Family Agriculturist Established by Agrarian Reform; Youth; Women; Public Managers; and Educational Institutions, Research Institutions and Universities.



The winner projects will receive R$ 80 thousand each. This year, the news is that there will also be awards for the second and third places for each category (R$ 50 thousand and R$ 30 thousand, respectively). The amount will be invested to the improvement ro reapplication of the awarded social technology. Furthermore, the finalist technologies will receive an ultrabook besides de trophy.  In the six previous editions of the award, the BB Foundation has invested R$ 2.4 million in awards.

Social Technologies Bank

The social technologies certified by BB Foundation through the Award are included in the Social Technologies Bank (Banco de Tecnologias Sociais ̶ BTS). It is an online data bank available at www.fbb.org.br/tecnologiasocial. It contains information on the Technologies and institutions that have developed them. The BTS is the main tool used by the BB Foundation to disseminate, promote and foster the reapplication of social technologies. The online platform gathers a total of 504 Technologies. All of them are certified in the former editions of the Award.



The Award


The Award is organized by BB Foundation in partnership with the National Social and Economic Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES), Brazilian Petroleum and Co (Petrobrás), KPMG Auditores Independentes, besides the UNESCO Office in Brazil.
