From 31 August to 3 September, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova will be in Naples to take part in the 6th World Urban Forum, organized by UN-Habitat on the theme “The Urban Future”.

Irina Bokova will take part in the High-Level Inter-Agency Meeting, entitled “The opportunity of urbanization in the 21st Century: the role of the United Nations”. The objective of this interagency meeting is to forge stronger partnership among UN agencies in a concerted effort to address shared urban development challenges.

The Director-General will visit three iconic World Heritage sites during her mission --the “Archaeological Areas of Pompei, Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata”, inscribed in 1997, the “18th-Century Royal Palace at Caserta with the Park, the Aqueduct of Vanvitelli, and the San Leucio Complex”, inscribed in 1997 and the “Historic Centre of Naples”, inscribed in 1995.
