In 2012, 114 projects will be benefitted by Criança Esperança Project
UNESCO selected 114 social projects that will be supported by Criança Esperança in 2012, benefitting over 60 thousand children, youths and young people throughout Brazil. A total of 800 projects applied for resources obtained by the 2011 campaign.
The selection process, carried out by the Social and Human Sciences Sector of UNESCO, is based on a set of criteria established at the beginning of the submission period. Each year, projects are submitted online, through the website.
The list of selected projects, includes NGOs located in 24 Brazilian states, including the Federal District. Bahia and Maranhão have 12 projects; São Paulo has 11 projects; and Rio de Janeiro and Ceará have 9 supported institutions. Projects were also selected in Pernambuco, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Rio Grande Do Sul, Paraíba, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Norte, Pará, Mato Grosso, Espírito Santo, Sergipe, Rondônia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Amazonas, Alagoas, Piauí and Tocantins. In this edition of the selective process, the North and the Northeast Will receive the greatest part of funds raised through donations.
In addition to the 114 projects, Criança Esperança will also support the four Criança Esperança spaces, in 2012. They are located in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Jaboatão dos Guararapes – as well as the Pastoral da Criança.
Since 1986, Criança Esperança – a Rede Globo project in partnership with UNESCO – has grossed over $232 million, benefiting nearly 5000 projects and 4 million people.
