Costanza Farina, UNESCO representative, Amman, welcomed UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) Mr. Edward Kallon to the UNESCO Amman Office this week where he addressed the staff.

During the informative session, Mr. Kallon highlighted the critical importance of a stronger collaboration amongst UN entities, especially during this time of increasing international scrutiny of how the international community is supporting Jordan as a unique safe haven in the troubled region. The RC/HC spoke as well about innovative joint programming serving to unite Jordan’s aid architecture and address the adverse impact of the protracted crisis on the host communities. The UNESCO Amman office staff presented Mr. Kallon with an overview of UNESCO strategic positioning in Jordan, concentrating on the thematic areas under the Education, Communications and Information and Culture sectors where UNESCO has clear added value. Mr. Kallon acknowledged UNESCO’s significant accomplishments in the country, specifically the Agency’s strong leadership and sectoral expertise in the three main fields of Education, Culture and Media.
