The National Adult Education Forum
UNESCO Representative Office in Uzbekistan in close cooperation with the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Representation of dvv international in Uzbekistan organized National Forum on Adult Education (AE) and Lifelong Learning on 15-17 November 2011, at the Business Center "Poytaxt", Tashkent city.

UNESCO Representative Office in Uzbekistan in close cooperation with the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Representation of dvv international in Uzbekistan organized National Forum on Adult Education (AE) and Lifelong Learning on 15-17 November 2011, at the Business Center "Poytaxt", Tashkent city.</b>
Forum is organized with the participation and support of the Ministries of Higher and Secondary Specialized` Education, Public Education, Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, State Testing Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the UNDP project "Social partnership in the provision of employment", Association for the harmonious development of adults and young people in Uzbekistan (AGRViMUZ).
The overall goal of the Forum was to discuss the development of adult education opportunities throughout the life in Uzbekistan.

The program of the Forum covered plenary and breakout sessions, seminars, workshops and master classes. On the opening remarks of the Forum, UNESCO Tashkent office delivered key-note messages of Mr. Qian Tang, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Education, and Mr. Arne Carlsen Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
During the Forum following issues were discussed in sessions:
1. State policy on AE: Management and cooperation sector;
2. Social Partnership in AE;
3. Ensuring the quality of AE;
4. AE programs targeted at the general public.
The Forum participants exchanged the experience in the field of adult education, discussed current problems, possible solutions, formulated new tasks and action plans, developed mechanisms to ensure closer cooperation of formal and non-formal education sectors, as well as the development of social partnership.
Within the frameworks of this Forum, a round table discussion was held on "Improving the regulatory framework and mechanism for funding the centers of adult education at vocational colleges" at the Institute for Training and Retraining of TVET sector staff on 11 November, 2011, a training seminar for school teachers on "Project Based Learning in 21st century information educational environment" was held at the general school in Tashkent city on 14-18 November, 2011, and a training workshop on environmental education for adults was held at the Business Center "POYTAXT" on 17-18 November, 2011.
Final document of the Forum (Forum Recommendations) that constitutes policy recommendations for further development of legal framework, improving management, funding and quality of adult education in Uzbekistan was drafted and adopted by Forum participants.
