“The Treasury of Oriental Manuscripts” - presentation of UNESCO publication
On the 16 of November, 2012 the Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan hosted the presentation of the book “The Treasury of Oriental Manuscripts” published by the UNESCO office in Tashkent in Uzbek, English and Russian languages.
The book was published with the generous support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by UNESCO Office in Tashkent in collaboration with Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies within the framework of UNESCO project “Preservation of manuscripts of Al Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies”. This publication was prepared by the scientists of the Institute of Oriental Studies and foreign experts Antonio Mirabile and Marco.Di Bella. - mentioned in his welcome speech Mr Bakhrom Abdukhalimov, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Uzbekistan H.E. Abdurahman bin Abdullah al-Shaeh, Head of UNESCO office in Tashkent Ms Krista Pikkat, Secretary-General of National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO Alisher Ikramov, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Mardani, representatives from the Embassy of Kuwait and Oman, director of the Egyptian cultural center, Deputy chief of the Muslim Board in Uzbekistan and other scientists and students were present at the presentation.
The attendants of the event became assured that this publication is essential not only for Uzbekistan, but also for foreign scientists, historians, and for the people whose work is connected closely with manuscripts.
