Message of condolences from UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office over two most recent earthquakes that shook Iran
UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office expresses its condolences and deepest sympathies to the Iranian people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly to the affected communities, following the two earthquakes that hit the country within one week. The latest one was on Tuesday, 16 April 2013, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale near the city of Khash, in the south-eastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan. One week earlier, on 9 April, an earthquake also shook some parts of Bushehr Province in southern Iran, resulting in the loss of more than 30 lives. Nearly a thousand people were also injured in this disaster, along with destruction of homes and infrastructure.
UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office also wishes the affected communities in both areas to gain their strength and resilience to overcome these devastations to return soon to their normal life.
