Education is a fundamental human right and the foundation for human fulfilment, peace, sustainable development, economic growth, decent work, gender equality and responsible global citizenship.

Education is absolutely central to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda as it has the potential to accelerate progress towards the achievement of all of the sustainable development goals.

The UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office will support its cluster countries as they work towards the achievement of SDG 4 to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

We will do this by providing technical assistance, policy advice, and advocacy for free, compulsory equitable and inclusive quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant learning outcomes; equitable, inclusive quality early childhood care and education; access to TVET and higher education; relevant skills for life and decent work; youth and adult literacy and numeracy; education for sustainable development, global citizenship and the appreciation for cultural diversity; qualified, professionally-trained, motivated and well-supported teachers; as well as equity in education and eliminating gender disparities in education at all levels.
