Stakeholder Meetings

A set of Stakeholder Meetings will bring together key ESD stakeholder groups such as UNESCO ASPnet schools and youth representatives from 4 to 8 November 2014 in Okayama, Japan.

The meetings in Okayama will provide input and recommendations to the World Conference on ESD, beginning two days later on 10 November 2014 in Aichi-Nagoya.

With a population of approximately 700,000, Okayama is the capital of Okayama Prefecture in the Chugoku region of Japan.  In 2005, the Okayama region was certified as one of the world's first Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) on ESD by the United Nations University.

Okayama citizens and organizations are committed to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development and collaborate on implementing ESD activities. 37 Community Learning Centres (CLC, Kominkan in Japanese) of the city of Okayama engage in exchanges with CLCs in Asia. The Okayama University hosts the UNESCO Chair in Research and Education for Sustainable Development.
