Kizuna Campaign

Message from the Director-General, Ms Irina Bokova, about the Kizuna Campaign. Following the earthquake and tsunami that hit northeast Japan on 11 March, UNESCO launched the 'Kizuna' campaign, named after the Japanese word for solidarity. Schoolchildren from 52 countries around the world sent 31 000 postcards with messages of hope and solidarity to the thousands of Japanese school children affected by the disaster.
