Director-General in Rome to attend UN Chief Executives Board
From 7 to 9 May, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is in Rome to attend the United Nations Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) Spring 2014 Session. The discussion at this session will focus on how best the UN system could support Member States to transition to the new development agenda.
The Director-General will also take part in the third meeting of the Steering Committee of the Global Education First Initiative, for which she is Executive Secretary. The Committee will discuss commitment on education in the Post-2015 development agenda and examine its strategy for the upcoming 18 months.
Those meeting will bring together several UN heads of agencies and high-level representatives including UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.
The Director-General will also participate in the 38th meeting of the UNAIDS Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations (CCO).
While in Rome, the CEB Members are expected to meet with the President of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. The Board will also have an Audience with His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican.
