Director-General’s official visit to Slovakia
UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova was on an official visit to the Slovakia from 1 to 2 June. During this visit, she met the President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gasparovic and several government officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajcak, State Secretary for Culture Ivan Secik and Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport Dusan Caplovic. The Director-General also met the President of the Slovak National Commission Ludovit Molnar and other members of the Commission.
The Director-General visited the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, where she met the Rector Mr Robert Rehhammer and received an honorary distinction from the university.
Irina Bokova also visited the Slovak Academy of Sciences, where she met the President of the Academy Professor Dr. Jaromir Pastorek. The Director-General received an honorary distinction from the Academy.
