The discussions continued on efforts in literacy for women and girls, progress in terms of gender equality, the development of technical and vocational training for the employability of youth, culture and its link to development. Training young people and women has a central place in President Macky Sall’s programme.

The two sides underlined the importance of consolidating achievements and moving forward, especially in the context of the post-2015 Agenda.

With regards to the situation in Mali, President Sall and the Director-General condemned the destruction of ancient monuments and cultural heritage, which beyond Mali, is a great loss for humanity as a whole. Both raised their voices against all forms of extremism and intolerance of any kind.
