The President of Côte d’Ivoire receives the Director-General
During her official visit to Côte d’Ivoire from 5 to 6 May, the UNESCO Director-General met with the President of the Republic Alassane Ouattara and discussed the future of cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and UNESCO, before taking part in the official dinner given in her honor. Together, they renewed their commitment to make every effort to consolidate peace, the first condition for sustainable development.
On 6 May, the Director-General also met with the Prime Minister Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio before participating with him in the opening session of the consultation meeting with Member States and National Commissions of the African Region for the elaboration of the new Meduim-Term strategy for UNESCO. After the ceremony, the Director-General attended the lunch offered by the First Lady Dominique Ouattara. She then took part in a working meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education Kandia Camara, with ministers in the fields of competence of UNESCO.
A joint communique was signed after the meeting, which identifies areas of future collaboration. On the last day of the official visit, the Director-General also held a meeting with the UN Resident Coordinator and United Nations Country Team.
