Tania Libertad, UNESCO Artist for Peace

Tania Libertad was born on 24 October 1952 in Zana, in the north of Peru. She has been living in Mexico since 1978. She is one of the most popular Latin American singers. Her repertoire covers different genres from bolero to salsa, from the Mexican ranchera and the Argentinian tango to Afro-Peruvian music.  

Tania Libertad has released more than forty albums and has collaborated with well-known artists such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Chico Buarque, Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanés, Miguel Bosé, Mercedes Sosa et Tito Puente.

Tania gave a performance at UNESCO's Headquarters on 20 February 2013 in order to celebrate 50 years of a successful career.
