The Community Media Network Uganda (COMNETU) with the UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa support is organizing a one day workshop to hold its re-launch to highlight the roles of community media in social development and advocate for their promotion in the country. This event will bring together managers and staff from community media houses, broadcasting media, Government line ministries, civil society operating in media, academia and public sector. The participants will ratify a common purpose of promoting community media centers to serve the developmental needs of communities in Uganda by providing access to relevant information, education and entertainment that can impart positive social change.
UNESCO supports the development of community media, recognizing the important role that the media play as a platform for democratic discourse.

COMNETU, which is supported by UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa, is partnering with Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA) and Uganda Development Services (UDS).
