2012 Human Rights Promotion Award of the Indian Institute of Human Rights (IIHR)
The Indian Institute of Human Rights (IIHR), in celebration of Human Rights Day 2012, is organizing a national event to confer the Human Rights Promotional Award to individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional commitments in advancing universal human rights and human rights education.
On the occasion of Human Rights Day 2012, UNESCO will be awarded the Human Rights Promotional Award by the Indian Institute of Human Rights (IIHR), in recognition of UNESCO’s efforts in promoting universal human rights and human rights education. The UNESCO Director and Representative to Bhutan, India, Maldives and Sri Lanka will receive the award.
This national event is being organised by IIHR in New Delhi. IIHR is a national level institution for studies, training, research, publication, conference organization and consultancy in the field of human rights and civil liberties, with 36 centres and 40,000 students.
The audience will include human rights activists, students and principles of schools in Delhi. Along with UNESCO, five other UN Agencies and diplomatic missions will be given the award for their role in advancing human rights.
