Technical Working Meeting on Strengthening the Conservation and Management of Lumbini, the Birthplace of Lord Buddha
Under the project "Strengthening the Conservation and Management of Lumbini, the Birthplace of the Lord Buddha” launched in August 2010 funded by Japanese government in cooperation with Nepal’s Department of Archaeology and Lumbini Development Trust, the technical working meeting will review the project activities.
The International Scientific Steering Committee led by Yukio Nishimura, University of Tokyo, will review progress in the implementation of the five following project components:
a) Improving the conservation of the site;
b) Providing a survey of the archaeological vestiges within and around the property;
c) Reviewing the present state of the Sacred Garden;
d) Establishing an Integrated Management Plan;
e) Strengthening the capacity of the national implementing agencies, that will mainstream the project results in future plans and programmes for the preservation of Lumbini.
