World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) 2010
Plenary session of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) 2010, on 8 December in Doha, Qatar.
In 2009, at the initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Qatar Foundation has launched the World Summit for Educational Innovation - WISE, an international forum and collaborative platform that brings together education practitioners, academics, scientists, scholars, political leaders and the economic actors to exchange ideas and share innovative initiatives and approaches to shape the educational models of the 21st century.
The second edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) will bring together over 1,000 participants from many different walks of life and every corner of the world: eminent decision makers, educationalists, thought leaders, politicians and a wide range of public and private sector multistakeholders. Together they will continue fostering innovative collaborations and action-oriented initiatives.
Over two and a half days, the Summit programme will focus on improving existing educational structures and exploring innovative trends. Plenary sessions and breakout sessions will be organised around these subjects, with an additional Plenary specifically addressing the crucial issue of how 21st-century education should be funded. In addition, there will be new formats for sessions (“Spotlight” sessions, Workshops, Demos, etc.), a Gala dinner for the WISE Awards Ceremony, and ample opportunities for informal networking.
The WISE initiative is supported by a network of five dedicated partners and international institutions involved in major education issues: Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), Institute of International Education (IIE) and RAND Corporation
