The Training Course on Heritage Management in the Pacific will be held at the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) by the Pacific Heritage Hub (PHH) hosted by the University of the South Pacific (USP).
The goal of the course is to enhance the heritage management capacities in Pacific Small Islands Developing States (SIDS), address some of the regional factors and training priorities identified through the 2nd Cycle of Periodic Reporting (2011). These factors include invasive species, climate change, loss of socio-cultural uses of heritage, transportation infrastructure, and the training priorities include conservation, education, risk preparedness, visitor management and community outreach. This regional activity will be followed up by a Micronesia workshop in April 2014.

As one of the outcomes of the project, a training module on the heritage management and planning will be produced by PHH. It will be a contribution to the ongoing work by USP on developing BA degree on the Pacific Studies including heritage management.
