National training workshop on technology violence against women in Kenya
Consultation Meeting on UNESCO & the use of Internet
UNESCO in partnership with International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) will carry out a national training workshop for women organizations, journalists, policy makers and Internet service providers on technology violence against women: harm, safety and building evidence in Nairobi, Kenya.
30 women will participate in this training which will equip them with knowledge and understanding of technology-related violence against women issues in Kenya, and globally, how these violations are propagated and why reporting is important.
During the training participants will learn safety and security skills to ensure their own and constituents in their organisations’ safety when they are using technology besides averting uncalled for insults/human right abuses. This training is part of UNESCO’s ongoing initiatives of building capacity of women and enhancing pluralistic media, including by adoption of gender-sensitive policies.
