Promoting Lifelong Learning through Community Learning Centers (CLC)

Promoting Lifelong Learning through Community Learning Centers (CLCs) National Review Seminar will be organized by Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, China Adult Education Association, and UNESCO Beijing Office from 29-30th November 2016, in Ningbo City, China. More than 60 participants are expected to attend the seminar including representatives from 40 rural community learning centers all over China, officials from provincial and municipal education bureaus, and researchers from universities and research institutes.

The main objective of the Seminar is to review the current status of existing CLCs and assess the quality of lifelong learning programmes implemented by the CLCs, within the context of SDG4, China Education 2030 Plan, and the Belem Framework for Action. The Seminar will also review the achievements and challenges faced by the CLCs and the quality of the programmes, teaching capacities, infrastructure, resource materials, and sharing of best practices in the CLCs.

For more than a decade, dozens of CLCs were established in China and a national CLC network was established. The purpose of the Seminar is to review the current status of existing CLCs and assess the quality of lifelong learning programmes implemented by the CLCs, within the context of SDG4, China Education 2030 Plan, and the Belem Framework for Action. The Seminar will also review the achievements and challenges faced by the CLCs and the quality of the programmes, teaching capacities, infrastructure, resource materials, and sharing of best practices in the CLCs.

This Seminar will be attended by representatives and presenters from about 40 CLCs around China. Officials from Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, China Adult Education Association, Ministry of Education and Ningbo Municipal Education Bureau will also be invited to attend and deliver speeches. In addition, experts and researchers from research institutes, representatives from civil societies and UNESCO staff are expected to join the workshop. In total, the Workshop will gather around 60 participants.
