In the context of the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UNESCO will organise an awareness-raising conference on the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities (CRPD), with a focus on progress made and challenges in Morocco.

This event is organised as part of the project "Changing mindsets and instilling human-rights approach in the perception of disabilities in Morocco" (2018-2020), implemented by 4 agencies of the United Nations under UNESCO's leadership (UNDP, WHO, and UNFPA), with the national partners.

It aims to change cultural norms by reversing the prejudices and negative stereotypes against persons with disability. The objective is to build a common vision of disability in a human right-based approach, thus facilitating dialogue between national institutions, personswith disabilities, organizations of civil society and the general public.

The awareness-raising conference will recall the philosophy of social inclusion and participation enshrined in the CRPD, and take stock of recent developments and progress made in this area in Morocco.
