Meeting of the EU/UNESCO Expert Facility on the Governance of Culture

The EU/UNESCO Expert Facility will meet in Bangkok, Thailand, from 12 to 14 February 2019. The meeting will take place within the framework of the project “EU/UNESCO Expert Facility on the Governance of Culture in Developing Countries: Support for new regulatory frameworks to strengthen the cultural and creative industries and promote South-South cooperation”, funded by the European Union.
The EU/UNESCO Expert Facility was recently renewed and is comprised of 42 international experts, 26 women and 16 men from 35 countries, who represent a wealth of cutting-edge expertise in issues related to creative industries, cultural entrepreneurship, cultural policy, cultural statistics and indicators, digital, artistic freedom, media diversity, trade, status of the artist, gender equality and intellectual property rights. UNESCO works with the Expert facility to develop training tools and materials, engage in research and advocacy activities, and deliver country level interventions through different modalities (workshops, advisory technical assistance, capacity-building interventions, mentoring, coaching, project evaluation, policy advice, etc.).
The Expert Facility will be meeting for the first time to discuss the implementation of capacity development, policy advice, expertise and peer-to-peer support types of interventions related to the enhancement of creative sectors and the implementation of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
