Regional workshop for strengthening and standardizing Tsunami warning coordination mechanisms

The regional workshop is executed by the UNESCO Office in San José, Costa Rica. The activity will take place in Managua, Nicaragua from 11 to 13 February 2019. Its main objective is the discussion and exchange of technical, methodological and strategic aspects related to the proposed Regional Tsunami Communications Protocol for Central America.
The workshop takes place within the framework of the implementation of the DIPECHO 2018-2019 project: "Reinforcement of warning and response capacities for tsunami and other coastal hazards in Central America", executed by the UNESCO Office in San José, Costa Rica and financed by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian aid Operations Directorate (ECHO).
This activity is funded in conjunction with the "Tsunami Advisory Project for Central America (CATAC)" by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Regional Workshop has been scheduled to strengthen and standardize coordination mechanisms for tsunami warning, aimed at improving the capacity to respond to tsunami events in Central America. The activity is framed within the development of multiple workshops of this Project in the region that have been executed to date:
