National Meeting: "Enhancing Policy research linkage for a State of Knowledge in Lebanon"

UNESCO organizes a 1-day national meeting that will share the key policy recommendations and research priorities identified in MOST schools organized as part of the Lebanon as State of Knowledge (LSK) project funded by and implemented in close collaboration with the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable and Human Development (HFSHD), 2017-2019. It also aims to explore ways to strengthen research policy linkage and capacity development of youth policy stakeholders within SDG process.

As part of the Lebanon as State of Knowledge (LSK) project, funded by and implemented in close collaboration with the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable and Human Development (HFSHD), a series of 4 schools of Management of Transformation (MOST) were implemented in 2018-2019 on following themes:
1) SDGs, Gender equality and PVE (April 2018)
2) Urban Inclusion (Oct 2018)
3) Youth participation in local governance and social cohesion through Cultural Heritage promotion (March 2019)
4) Youth civic engagement and PVE (June 2019)

The series of MOST Schools promoted inter-university discussions and collaboration on policy oriented research and a group of 100 youth policy stakeholders from academia, public sector and NGOs were trained in policy research namely within the SDGs process.

One day meeting thus will share the key policy recommendations and research priorities identified during the MOST schools and follow up research as well as explore ways to strengthen research policy linkage and capacity development of youth policy stakeholders within SDG process.

In the context of the Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, MOST Schools are capacity-building activities focused on strengthening the competencies for evidence-informed decision-making in Member States. They help develop the capacity of researchers and decision-makers to translate knowledge into action. Their primary goal is to support long-term sustainable development in contexts where capacity gaps may be a major constraint to translating research into action.
