Workshop on "Youth participatory research and advocacy for Prevention Violent Extremism (PVE) and Peace building in Lebanon"

UNESCO and the Fighters for Peace (FFP), in coordination with the Institute for Social Sciences of the Lebanese University, are organizing a 2-day training workshop on "participatory research and advocacy for peace" targeting graduates students and youth activists.

Security Council Resolution 2250 on “Youth, Peace and Security", adopted in 2015, provides a policy framework for recognizing and promoting the significant role of youth in peacebuilding.

Youth-led policy research is one of the areas of interest identified during a series of regional and national consultations with youth actors in the region, including in Lebanon between 2016 and 2018, in response to the recommendations of the Resolution.

In the case of Lebanon, youth participation is an important pillar of the new national PVE strategy (2018-). The workshop thus targets a group of young researchers from the northern region to strengthen their research and advocacy capacities forpeace building prior to starting fieldwork to collect testimonies of veterans.
