Media and Information Literacy and Games in the Digital World-Part II Games Bar

The side-event Media and Information Literacy and Games in the Digital World will focus on the role of MIL and games in improving citizens’ knowledge, skills and attitude to respond to the digital era and shape more peaceful and sustainable societies. The Games Bar will be an integral part of the General Conference exhibition, with a unified visual identity. It aims to exploit the unique potential of MIL and games to educate, stimulate critical thinking, and promote tolerance, dialogue and peace.
The Games Bar will provide a space for General Conference participants to play a series of video games, and in relation to MIL, to relax, to be entertained, and to acquire MIL skills while playing. A set of games developed by youth-led game companies, mainly serious games, as well as the virtual tour of mock-up of MIL Cities, will be available at the Games Bar. The Games Bar is co-financed by Samsung and UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP). The Opening of the Games Bar is planned to take place on 12 November 2019 at 1 p.m., at UNESCO Headquarters.
