Inception meeting of the UNESCO-KFIT Project “ICT Transforming Education in Africa” - Phase II

Within the framework of the UNESCO-Korea Funds-in-Trust (KFIT) project ‘ICT Transforming Education in Africa’, UNESCO is organizing an inception meeting for the second phase of the project.

The main objective of the meeting is to facilitate the preparation of the project implementation and to prepare relevant and feasible implementation plans based on the specific context and needs of the project countries. The meeting will also represent an opportunity to explore potential synergies among the various activities implemented by the ICT in Education Unit of UNESCO.

The event will convene representatives of government from beneficiary countries of the KFIT project, of the Permanent Delegations to UNESCO as well as the Republic of Korea, UNESCO programme specialists and international experts.
The “ICT Transforming Education in Africa” is a project developed within the framework of the UNESCO‐Korean Funds‐in‐Trust (KFIT) contribution by the Republic of Korea. It intends to support the integration of ICT-based innovative approaches for education in African countries. The first phase of the project ran from 2016 to 2019 and focused on Mozambique, Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The second phase of the project, instead, will be implemented in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Senegal.
The second phase of the project has a duration of four years, including six months of inception, three years of implementation and six months for the evaluation and exit strategy. During the six-month inception phase, the needs assessment will be conducted and work plans aligned to the needs and aspirations of each country will be finalized. An inception meeting is also due to take place.

The main goal of the meeting is to inform the project and consult with the appropriate government officials and UNECO Headquarters and Field Offices staff to identify the project’s strategic objectives in each country, leading the way to the preparation of a relevant and feasible implementation plan based on the specific context and needs of the project countries.
