International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

This year, the Day will be celebrated at UNESCO by a musical evening with the musician Anouar Brahem and two exhibitions: one presenting works by international contemporary artists the other UNESCO’s actions in favour of the Palestinian People.

“The Astounding Eyes of Rita” by Anouar Brahem

Authentic master of oud magic, Anouar Brahem is one of the rare composers and improvisers today capable of inventing music which is both fully grounded in an ancestral culture and eminently contemporary in its affirmation of the fruitful diversity of cultures.
The Tunisian artist will be accompanied by Klaus Gesing, bass clarinet, Björn Meyer, bass, and Khaled Yassine, drums.

This exhibition presents part of the collection of works donated by internationally acclaimed artists such as Pierre Buraglio, Ernest Pignon, Dorothée Selz and Jan Voss to the future Palestinian national museum.

Through out a selection of projects undertaken with its partners and in collaboration with other United Nations agencies, UNESCO is presenting its actions in the field of emergency aid and Peace promotion conducted for the past several years in favour of the Palestinian People.
