This expert group meeting is organised with the Division for Teacher Development and Higher Education (ED/THE), the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) and the Secretariat of the International Task Force on Teachers for EFA (ED/THE/TEFAS).
This expert meeting would serve as the basis for building a global indicator development agenda and facilitate broader coordination related to cross-national indicators on teachers and teaching. It will seek to establish an internationally acceptable framework of indicators for assessing the quality of teachers and teaching. It aims to identify challenges and opportunities in improving comparative indicators on teachers and teaching towards evidence based policy and planning.
This event is scheduled to coincide with the World Teachers Day (WTD) which will be celebrated on the 5th of October 2012. The outcome of the expert meeting will be shared on the WTD and will enable the partners to highlight the importance of teacher policy and planning through this key event.
