Towards a Media code of Ethics in Lebanon

This round table aims at presenting the code of ethics that was prepared by Maharat Foundation with the support of UNESCO. This publication was compiled taking the Lebanese media specificity in mind and surveyed over 20 media institutions in Lebanon.
With what the media personnel and institutions are going through in Lebanon and with the absence of an agreed upon media code of ethics, this publication came to highlight the different points of view from various media institutions towards a code of ethics and conduct. The aim of this IPDC project isn't the code of ethics itself, but to help develop Lebanese media to be able to play its mission in building citizenship and the nation. In addition, the need for this kind of agreement or code is very vital not only with the increase of complaints from media actions that offend general public for insultation, racism, but also with the obstacles that the media professionals are going through.

The roundtable will have representation from media institutions, academia and related NGOs.
